Earlier this week, the second Airbus Casa C-295W for the Kazakhstan Border Guard ‘29502’ transited via Malta while on delivery to Kazakhstan. It most likely chose to pass via Malta to avoid overflying Ukraine due to its ongoing conflict with Russia. The Airbus Casa C-295Ws will complement the four Antonov An-26 transport aircraft already operating with the unit. These aircraft will based at Almaty in the southwest near the Caspian Sea and Zhetygen/Ilysk in the southeast of the country, just like the Antonov 26’s.
