Yesterday, a Belgian Navy Aerospatiale SA-316B Alouette III, serial M-1, was spotted on board the Belgian Navy Karel Doorman-class frigate.
Three SA 316B Alouette III’s were acquired for the Belgian Navy in 1971. Since 2004 the helicopters were integrated into the Belgian Armed Forces Air Component (Air Force) and operated by No. 40 Squadron. The Alouette III helicopters will be phased out towards the end of this year, on their 50th year of operations in service with the Belgian Navy.
