Also spotted yesterday afternoon performing navigation training at Toulouse was a Multinational Multi-Role Tanker Transport Fleet (MMF) Airbus A330-200MRTT ‘T-056’ operated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force. ‘T-056’ was delivered to the MMF on November 19th , 2020 and is the 3rd aircraft to be received by the squadron based at Eindhoven Air Base. This third aircraft is the first of the fleet to be converted into aeromedical evacuation (MEDEVAC) configuration. Conversion has been completed in Cologne, Germany. The MMF MEDEVAC aircraft is an important link in the rescue chain for the medical evacuation of injured people over long distances.
The full MMF fleet will consist of nine Multi-role tanker transport aircraft able to provide strategic transport, air-to-air refueling and medical evacuation capabilities to its six participating nations (Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Norway). The aircraft are owned by NATO and managed by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) with the support of the Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) on the acquisition phase. Among the nine MMF aircraft, five will be based in Eindhoven, and four in Cologne.
