A Lockheed KC-130J Hercules, serial ‘KAF328’ belonging to the Kuwait Air Force visited LMML on the 9th November 2020 for a night stop. It arrived from Athens and departed back to Kuwait International Airport the following day via Runway 31.
Kuwait purchased 3 KC-130Js with an option for 3 more through the US Government Foreign Military Sale process in 2014. The programme, including the support of the fleet, is managed by the US Navy through its Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). The Kuwait Air Force’s KC-130Js provide aerial refueling for its F/A-18 fleet and a variety of other support missions such as air mobility, disaster relief and humanitarian aid missions to promote goodwill and stability in the Middle Eastern region.The KC-130Js are operated by 41 Transport squadron alongside the also newly required C-17 aircraft, based at Kuwait International Airport.
