Boris Force One!

Another Voyager at LMML today but this time it’s the VIP-configured ‘ZZ336’ sporting it’s new high-visibility paint job with the Union Jack on the tail. ‘ZZ336’ visited Luqa on another navigational training flight, arriving directly from RAF Brize Norton and departing back to base after a few hours.

‘ZZ336’ acts as the the RAF’s long-haul VIP plane to support the Prime Minister, the Royal Family, other senior officials, and their accompanying delegations and members of the press during overseas visits. When flying these missions, ZZ336 has a special internal VIP configuration consisting of a first-class executive suite as well as airline-style business-class seating.

Like it’s other counterparts, the Voyager can also act as an air-to-air refuelling (AAR) tanker. The RAF operates a total of 10 Voyagers (4x KC.2 and 6x KC.3) assigned to 10 Squadron and 101 Squadron based at RAF Brize Norton. This version known as the Voyager KC.Mk 2, is equipped with two underwing pods for refuelling the RAF’s Eurofighter Typhoons and F-35.
